Nightlighter Flashlight

Nightlighter Flashlight

An ingeniously designed flashlight, the Nightlighter contains two distinct light sources that work together to provide you with wide coverage illumination. Using state of the art LEDs, one light source shines on the area ahead, and the other illuminates the area at your feet. Its innovative, ergonomic design is balanced and easy to carry. This dual-light flashlight emits a forward-facing, narrow-angle beam (uses 4 ultra bright 5mm white LEDs) to light the path ahead of you. It also emits a downward-facing wide-angle beam (uses two ultra bright 5mm white LEDs) to light the ground. Using both of these light sources simultaneously enables you to feel safer while walking in the dark. No more constantly rotating the light near and far to see everything in the dark. There are also multiple lighting options available with the flashlight’s three-way switch: the front light alone, both front and lower lights, and lower lights only.

3D-Printed Bioengineered Leather Could Hit Runways in Five Years

3D-Printed Bioengineered Leather Could Hit Runways in Five Years

Lab-grown leather apparel could hit the runways in as little as five years—all without harming a hair on a single animal’s head, according to Andras Forgacs, co-founder and CEO of Modern Meadow, a Missouri-based startup that’s approaching meat-and-leather production from an tissue-bioengineering, rather than farming, point of view. Backed by Breakout Labs, the grant-awarding foundation headed by PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, Modern Meadow seeks to combine regenerative medicine with three-dimensional printing to synthesize leather and ultimately meat. Just one question: Will animal-rights advocates bite? Modern Meadow is using in-vitro leather production as its starting point for a simple reason: it’s easier to make than meat. “Our emphasis first is not on meat, it’s on leather,” Forgacs told Txchnologist on Tuesday. “The main reason is that, technically, skin is a simpler structure than meat, making it easier to produce.” The company also has to ease the public into the idea of bioengineered products. “Anecdotally, we’ve found that around 40 percent of people would be willing to try cultured meat,” he said. “There’s much less controversy around using leather that doesn’t involve killing animals.” While regulatory agencies could delay lab-cultured burgers for 10 years, a full-scale leather-production facility could be operational in as little as five. While the regulatory agencies could keep lab-cultured burgers off lunch menus for another 10 years, a full-scale leather-production facility could be operational in as little as five, he added. The process of of culturing tissues for leather and food, while more humane than the alternative, is far from animal-free—at least in the beginning. Modern Meadow has to first source “starter cells” by taking punch biopsies of donor livestock. After proliferating the millions of extracted cells into billions in a bioreactor or other growth apparatus, the company centrifuges the products to eliminate the growth medium and lump cells together in aggregated spheres. Next comes the 3D bio-printing, which layers cells, rather than inks, into a cohesive structure. The newly fused cells are finally placed in a bioreactor and allowed to mature into hide. “We create the embryonic precursor and in the bioreactor apply physical cues to let nature take over,” Forgacs explained. “This stimulates collagen production in the case of the cells that will become leather and muscle growth in what will become meat.” Modern Meadow’s proposed mode of leather production has more advantages than the question of animal welfare. Because the hides do not have hair or tough outer skin on them, for instance, they require fewer toxic chemicals during tanning. Raising livestock also places a significant burden on the environment by consuming vast amounts of resources and energy. Modern Meadow’s meat and leather would be competing for a share of a combined $2.5 trillion market, according to Forgacs. “If we can come up with a very good product that can be technically superior in some ways and at the same time environmentally more conscious and animal-friendly, then that could mean a significant portion of the global market,” he added.

What is CORONA...???

What is CORONA...???

College life is one of the most exciting phases in anyone's life. It is in this period when you learn to handle the pleasure of freedom with the responsibility of a career simultaneously. Along with studies, cultural activities go on a long way in shaping the personality of a student and here only we came across the idea of an event to accomplish that...” OUR CORONA”.

College Festivals have gained a lot of importance over the years. Students look up to it as an opportunity to grow and develop their talents and bring out their best flair in the field of their choice. At times these students land up choosing their career based on their performance in these competitions. And Corona has helped students of our institution and a lot others to explore their and strengths and weaknesses upto a great extent.

Corona(earlier Radiance) started in a small room by a bunch of enthusiastic students in the very first year of the establishment of the institute and now it is one of the biggest festivals of IP university. It’s successful three years in a row say’s it all. Loud music, tapping feet, excitement and an enthusiastic crowd is the general scene at BPITs annual techinal-cultural fest, CORONA'.

Corona has always act as a symbol that defines the culture, rituals, and rules of the institute and more importantly represent their true spirit. They are a platform where different kinds of people from diverse backgrounds share the same stage and showcase their talents. It’s the college festivals that to some extent give an identity to the college and bring in the element of fun and excitement that a student would look for while entering the institute.

But, A cultural fest is not just about fun and games, the students who are part of the organizing team (CCT) and hundreds of coordinators gain valuable experience which cannot be gained from any course book. They are important in fostering an individual’s personality and makes them ready for their future. The entire reputation of an institute is at stake when it organizes a cultural fest and we believe we have done full justice to it.

So, “When a cluster of young minds full of talent and daunting hearts abundant with spirit decide to congregate I believe there is no room for inhibition.” So with 2 successful years of annual techno-cultural festival of BHAGWAN PARSHURAM INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, here comes a hope for another banging

The shirt you can't get dirty

The shirt you can't get dirty

Researchers create ultralight coating that can repel alcohol, coffee, oil and even petrol
Superomniphobic coating is 95% air - but can repel the broadest range of liquids ever seen
Could be used to create stain resistant clothes, protect soldiers from chemical attacks, and even reduce drag on ships
Scientists have revealed the answer to every clumsy eaters worst nightmare - a coating that can be applied to clothing to make it repel almost anything you throw at it.
The unique coating, which is 95% air, can repel everything from coffee and alcohol to oil and even acid.
It is so light it can be used to create 'breathable' clothes to protect soldiers on the battlefield. The nanoscale coating that's at least 95 percent air repels the broadest range of liquids of any material in its class, causing them to bounce off the treated surface, according to the University of Michigan engineering researchers who developed it. In addition to super stain-resistant clothes, the coating could lead to breathable garments to protect soldiers and scientists from chemicals, and advanced waterproof paints that dramatically reduce drag on ships.
Droplets of solutions that would normally damage either your shirt or your skin recoil when they touch the new 'superomniphobic surface'.
'Virtually any liquid you throw on it bounces right off without wetting it,' said Anish Tuteja, who led the study, which is published in the current issue of the Journal of the American Chemical Society. 'For many of the other similar coatings, very low surface tension liquids such as oils, alcohols, organic acids, organic bases and solvents stick to them and they could start to diffuse through and that's not what you want,'
He and his colleagues tested more than 100 liquids and found only two that were able to penetrate the coating.
They were chlorofluorocarbons—chemicals used in refrigerators and air conditioners.
In Tuteja's lab, in a demonstration, the surface repelled coffee, soy sauce and vegetable oil, as well as toxic hydrochloric and sulfuric acids that could burn skin.
Tuteja says it's also resistant to gasoline and various alcohols.
To apply the coating, the researchers use a technique called electrospinning that uses an electric charge to create fine particles of solid from a liquid solution. So far, they've coated small tiles of screen and postage-stamp-sized swaths of fabric.
The coating is a mixture of rubbery plastic particles of 'polydimethylsiloxane,' or PDMS, and liquid-resisting nanoscale cubes developed by the Air Force that contain carbon, fluorine, silicon and oxygen.
The material's chemistry is important, but so is its texture.
It hugs the pore structure of whatever surface it's being applied to, and it also creates a finer web within those pores.
This structure means that between 95 and 99 percent of the coating is actually air pockets, so any liquid that comes in contact with the coating is barely touching a solid surface.
Because the liquid touches mere filaments of the solid surface, as opposed to a greater area, the developed coating can dramatically reduce the intermolecular forces that normally draw the two states of matter together.
These forces, known as Van der Waals interaction forces, are kept at a minimum. 'Normally, when the two materials get close, they imbue a small positive or negative charge on each other, and as soon as the liquid comes in contact with the solid surface it will start to spread,' Tuteja said.
'We've drastically reduced the interaction between the surface and the droplet.'
With almost no incentive to spread, the droplets stay intact, interacting only with molecules of themselves, maintaining a spherical shape, and literally bouncing off the coating.
One classification of liquid that this coating repels is the so-called non-Newtonian category, which includes shampoos, custards, blood, paints, clays and printer inks, for example.

What is CRCA...???

What is CRCA...???

This is the most common Question that rise in every student's mind.
Well, Here is the answer to Your Question.

CRCA (Committee for Recreational and Cultural Activities) represents the cultural society of our college, a small initiative set up by our pass-outs Batch 2008( Sahil Saini, Rishabh Jain, Tanvi Sharma, Bhavana Gupta) & Mohit Jain with the blessing of our prestigious Management & Faculty, they are continuing same chain with even more zeal & enthusiasm.

A smile on the face of every BPITian after any event in the college is indeed the hard work put up by the CRCA team from dawn till dusk, and probably this smile is the reason  for their tagline
"WE WORK FOR YOUR SMILE

This year, they have incorporated many interesting Clubs, thereby adding scintilla to our cultural society. All the activities that are inculcated in CRCA will help our college students to enhance their skills, and build strong pillar of confidence and perennial source of motivation in students.
